The 12th Asia Pacific Regional Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scout (WAGGGS) is going to begin in Kathmandu tomorrow. Organizing a news conference here Sunday, Chief of Nepal Scout (NS) Rabin Dahal shared that a total of 250 girl scouts from 26 countries will take part in the conference. President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to inaugurate the five-day event that the Nepal Scout organizes. The regional conference held every three year is taking place in Nepal for the first time, according to NS Chief Dahal. The conference carrying a theme ‘Our Lophophorus: Connect, Growth, Impact’ will be attended by boy scouts too, he shared. A four-member Asia Pacific Regional Executive Committee would be formed by the conference, added NS Secretary Lok Bahadur Bhandari. A trekking will be organized alongside the event in Urkema mountain of Rasuwa to promote scouting tourism. Various workshops on capacity building, disaster management and women empowerment will also be organized during the Conference. A total of 146 countries are in the WAGGGS and Nepal received its membership in 1983.
