Interview with Lal Babu Pandit

2:12 AM

Lal Babu Pandit has said that CPN-UML would not join the government if the new government was not formed in line with the 16-point agreement made in the past. At a face-to-face programme organized today by Rafat Sanchar Club, he accused Nepali Congress of opting efforts to not hand over government leadership to the UML “A conspiracy is being orchestrated to keep UML out of the government ring though the earlier agreement was to form a consensual government under UML leadership following the promulgation of a new constitution”, he said. CPN-UML would not join the government rather stay in opposition if efforts are made to not give leadership to UML by undermining consensus notion, Minister Pandit asserted. The political polarization has widened with the President providing seven days to the parties for forming a consensus government, he said, ruling out any possibility of constituting consensus based government. Claiming that Nepal’s constitution is the best statute in the world, he suggested foreign countries not to bother for Nepal adopting its constitution. He further said that Nepal has initiated the process to import essential goods from China. “The unannounced barricade imposed by India has encouraged to become self-reliant. The government is effortful; to open up northern customs points”.
